As per the guidelines of MHRD-IIC, an upgraded version IIC 2.0 has been constituted to streamline innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in our Kingston Engineering College, the coordinators for the various division of work under MHRD-IIC 2.0.

2018-2019

As per the guidelines of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India our college has established an Institution’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst the students. The primary idea is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes.

Functions of IICs

  • To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
  • Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
  • Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
  • Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
  • Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
  • Organize Hackathon, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.


Under Kingston Institution’s Innovation Council, the events organized in our institution during the year 2018-2019 with grades obtained are listed below:

  • A Online workshop session on India's First Leadership Talk series by Mr.Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group of companies with A+ Grade.
  • A Offline Workshop on Intellectual Property rights by Dr.Tirunelveli Nellaiappan Shanmugam, Former Professor, Anna University with A Grade.
  • A Online Workshop session on Intellectual property rights for students & Faculty members by Ms.Shwetasree Majumder, Principal, Fidus Law Chamber, Bangalore with A Grade.

To improve the innovation and entrepreneurship among the students, our college has participated in Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2019 - a unique Open Innovation Model for identifying new and disruptive technology innovations to solve the challenges faced in our country. At the end, 37 teams of Kingston Engineering College have been approved and a total of 79 project ideas have been submitted to MIC for the year 2018-2019.


Kingston has been awarded with Three star rating by MHRD-IIC for the establishment and functioning of IIC on
21st November 2018.
